President Uhuru Kenyatta has directed all schools to ensure that students have re-opened on Monday 10th May 2021 as scheduled. An update of the latest school calendar is available here.

Re-opening of schools

While delivering his national address during 2021 International Labour Day Celebrations at State House, Nairobi, president Uhuru directed the ministry of education to ensure that all schools at all levels have re-opened as earlier scheduled. That is pre-primary, primary schools, secondary schools, technical institutions, colleges and universities.

Lifting of Curfew restrictions in 5 counties

Here is also what the president said during the address about lifting of curfews and restrictions starting from 2nd May 2021:

Curfew in Nairobi, Kajiado, Machakos, Kiambu, and Nakuru counties has been lifted. You can now travel to other counties in the country. Curfew hours in the five counties has also been changed from 7:00 pm to 4:00 AM to 10 PM to 4:00 AM

Operations of bars, restaurants and eateries in the zoned will resume in accordance with the guidelines issued. Bars and restaurant to operate until 7:00 PM in Nairobi, Nakuru, Kajiado, Machakos and Kiambu counties.

Hospital visits have been limited to one visitor per patient per day.

Physical attendance in Worship areas will resume with  1/3rd of the capacity allowed in the place of worship.
