Tawi, Imagine Cup Winners

The winner of the 2023 edition of Imagine Cup, Tawi has been awarded a prize of USD 100,000 (Ksh. 10 million). Additionally, they will have the privilege of engaging in a mentorship session with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, and get Level 2 access to Microsoft for Startups Founders Hub.

TAWI is an innovation that addresses the communication challenges faced by children with Auditory Processing Disorder (APD). APD is a hearing condition that affects how your brain processes sound. Tawi’s innovation leverages real-time speech recognition technology to suppress background noise, enhance speech quality, and convert speech into text, all tailored to the specific needs of each child. By utilizing earphones and a smartphone with AI-powered speech-to-text and audio enhancement capabilities, TAWI enables users to hear speakers clearly in noisy environments.

TAWI empowers children with APD, helping them overcome communication barriers, navigate the world with confidence, and reach their full potential.

The Tawi team consists of four USIU university students John Onsongo Mabeya, Muna Said, Syntiche Musawu Cishimbi, and Zakariya Hussein Hassan.
