NIBS students complain of being disciplined like primary pupils

NIBS college student discipline Incidence

There was drama today at NIBS Technical College after a student was harassed by the school staff for turning up late.

In a video circulating on social media which can be viewed on TikTok here, a student is seen being pulled by what looks like school staff and security to a private place. However, the student resists claiming that any issue the school has with him must be addressed publicly and not in private areas.

The student is heard requesting the college staff holding him tightly to let him go home if they are not willing to address the issue in a public place. However, the staff refuse to let him go as they drag him to a room and ask a gathering of students to stop recording the incident and leave.

Some NIBS students claim that once a student is taken to a private place, he is disciplined like a lower school student. Unlike Primary and Secondary schools, most college and University students in Kenya are not physically punished when they commit an offense.  They are either expelled, suspended, or given a non-physical punishment.
