Kisumu Day high school has appealed against Agoro Sare’s win. They want Agoro Sare’s win to be disqualified by Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA).
In a complaint letter sent to KSSSA Nyanza Region contesting the win, Kisumu Day alleges that Agoro Sale fielded an ineligible player during the final match they played against them. Kisumu Day argues that Geoffrey Omondi Odira, who played for Agoro Sare in the finals was a form three at Dagoretti High School in 2022 and was again registered as a form three in this year’s games.
Kisumu Day goes ahead to argue that if Godfrey Omondi is a form three student at Agoro Sare (in 2023) then he is a repeater and does not qualify to play in the competitions according to KSSSA Championship rules.
Section 11 part (e) of the KISSSA constitution states that any repeater at any school shall not be eligible to play in the year of repeating.
If Kisumu Days wins the appeal, they will represent the Nyanza region in the national finals. Consequently, Agoro Sare will be banned from playing in the competition for 2 years.
