The Kenya Music Festival 2023 is set to take place in Nyeri County at Dedan Kimathi University from the 11th to the 23rd of August.
The theme of the 95th Music Festival will be “Nurturing Talent for Innovation and national development“.
This year’s theme reflects the event’s intention to showcase musical talents and emphasize their role in fostering innovation and contributing to the development of the nation.
Schools that emerged winners at county and regional levels will compete at the national level.
Some of the favorite items and set pieces presented at the regional levels include;
- Traditional songs that showcase Kenya’s cultural heritage
- Zilizopendwa
- Original compositions created by the participants themselves
- Singing games
- Folk Songs
- etc
The items are classified into specific classes that are defined in the KMF syllabus.
Kenya Music Festival is open for participation by students from primary schools, secondary schools, colleges, and universities.
Winners at the national level will be awarded trophies and hosted by the president at the State House.
