Professor George Magoha, one of Kenya’s most remarkable education cabinet secretaries has died at the Nairobi Hospital aged 71. He served in the ministry of education under the Uhuru Kenyatta regime
George Magoha was appointed as the Cabinet Secretary for Education on March 1, 2019, succeeding Amina Mohamed. Before his appointment as Education Cabinet Secretary, he was the KNEC CEO. He also served as the Vice-Chancellor at the University of Nairobi.

George Magoha died on the evening of January 24, 2023, at the Nairobi Hospital after collapsing at home. The family is yet to confirm the exact cause of his death.
George Magoha will be remembered for streamlining the education system in Kenya and leading in the rollout of the CBC curriculum.
