While it is true that the company has laid off several employees and closed some branches in recent months due to challenging economic conditions, John Ngoru, the Bata Regional Human Resources Director for Africa and the Middle East, has clarified that the company is currently undergoing a regular annual maintenance shutdown that happens during off-peak periods. Ngoru emphasized that the claim of Bata’s closure is misleading and lacks a factual basis.
