Political intolerance in the country is at all-time high as Jubilee party is using any means possible to cling to power. On the other hand, the NASA coalition is agitating for purging of corrupt officials from the electoral body before the repeat elections slated for 26th October take place.
NASA had been staging anti-IEBC protests throughout the country twice every week (on Mondays and Fridays) but have now included Wednesday. The protests have been largely peaceful, with exception of an incident where goons took advantage and looted Tumaini Supermarket in Kisumu.
Police have been accused of using excessive force in containing the protests. Last week there was public outcry after they were caught on camera firing tear gas canisters into a kindergarten school in Kisumu. In another case a one protestor died after police used live bullets to scuttle protests in Kisumu.
