Ministry of Education 2025 Term Dates for Schools in Kenya
The Ministry of Education has released the official revised 2024 term dates for schools. This calendar is the latest revised calendar.
2024 Pre-primary and primary school terms dates
- 2024 KCPE: KPSEA and KCPE begins on 28th October 2024 and ends on 31st October 2024. More about KCPE 2024 Timetable or Grade 6’s KPSEA 2024 Timetable.
2024 Lower School Calendar
This calendar is applicable to all students in pre-primary and primary school pupils.
- Term 1: Opening dates (8th January 2024), closing dates (5th April 2024) (13 weeks) (There will be Half term break of 3 days from 29th February 2024 to 3rd March 2024)
- First Term Holiday: from 8th April 2024 to 26th April 2024 (4 weeks)
- Term 2: Opening Dates (13th May 2024), closing dates (2nd August 2024) (14weeks) (There will be Half term break of 3 days from 20th June 2024 to 23rd June 2024)
- Second Term Holiday: from 5th August 2024 to 23rd August 2024 (3 weeks)
- Term 3: Opening Dates (26th August 2024), closing dates (25th October 2024)
- Third Term Holiday: from 28th October 2024 to 3rd January 2025 (10 weeks)
2024 Secondary schools term dates (opening and closing)
- 2024 KCSE: KCSE begins on 4th November 2024 and ends on 22nd November 2024. More about KCSE 2024 Timetable.
2024 High School Calendar
This calendar is applicable to all secondary school students.
- Term 1: Opening dates (8th January 2024), closing dates (5th April 2024) (13 weeks) (There will be mid-term break of 3 days from 29th February 2024 to 3rd March 2024)
- April Holiday: from 8th April 2024 to 26th April 2024 (4 weeks)
- Term 2: Opening Dates (13th May 2024), closing dates (2nd August 2024) (14 weeks) (There will be mid-term break of 3 days from 20th June 2024 to 23rd June 2024)
- August Holiday: from 5th August 2024 to 23rd August 2024 (3 weeks)
- Term 3: Opening Dates (26th August 2024), closing dates (25th October 2024)
- December Holiday: from 28th October 2024 to 3rd January 2025 (10 weeks)
Teacher Training Colleges Calendar
Teacher training colleges will open for Term 1 on 8th January 2024 and close on 5th April 2024. They will then proceed for a 3 weeks holiday from 8th April 2024 to 26th April 2024.
The second term opening date for colleges is 29th April 2024 and the closing date is 2nd August 2024. College students will proceed for the 2nd term holiday from 5th August 2024 to 26th August 2024.
Term 3 for colleges begins on 26th August 2024 and ends on 8th November 2024.
Other colleges and each university have their own opening schedule.
2024 School calendar highlight
- Schools will not have mid-break or half-term in term 3
- KCSE and KCPE exams will be in November
- There will be a break of 10 weeks to allow candidates to do their national exams.
