Ministry of Education 2025 Term Dates for Schools in Kenya
The Ministry of Education has released the official revised 2025 term dates for schools. This calendar is the latest revised calendar.
2025 Pre-primary and primary school terms dates
- 2025 KCPE: KPSEA and KCPE begins on 27th October 2025 and ends on 30th October 2025. More about KCPE 2025 Timetable or Grade 6’s KPSEA 2025 Timetable.
2025 Lower School Calendar
This calendar is applicable to all students in pre-primary and primary school pupils.
- Term 1: Opening dates (6th January 2025), closing dates (4th April 2025) (13 weeks) (There will be Half term break of 5 days from 26th February 2025 to 2nd March 2025)
- First Term Holiday: from 7th April 2025 to 25th April 2025 (3 weeks)
- Term 2: Opening Dates (28th April 2025), closing dates (1st August 2025) (14weeks) (There will be Half term break of 5 days from 25th June 2025 to 29th June 2025)
- Second Term Holiday: from 4th August 2025 to 22nd August 2025 (3 weeks)
- Term 3: Opening Dates (25th August 2025), closing dates (24th October 2025)
- Third Term Holiday: from 27th October 2025 to 3nd January 2026 (10 weeks)
2025 Secondary schools term dates (opening and closing)
- 2025 KCSE: KCSE begins on 3rd November 2025 and ends on 21st November 2025. More about KCSE 2025 Timetable.
2025 High School Calendar
This calendar is applicable to all secondary school students.
- Term 1: Opening dates (6th January 2025), closing dates (4th April 2025) (13 weeks) (There will be Half term break of 5 days from 26th February 2025 to 2nd March 2025)
- April Holiday: from 7th April 2025 to 25th April 2025 (3 weeks)
- Term 2: Opening Dates (28th April 2025), closing dates (1st August 2025) (14weeks) (There will be Half term break of 5 days from 25th June 2025 to 29th June 2025)
- August Holiday: from 4th August 2025 to 22nd August 2025 (3 weeks)
- Term 3: Opening Dates (25th August 2025), closing dates (24th October 2025)
- December Holiday: from 27th October 2025 to 3nd January 2026 (10 weeks)
Teacher Training Colleges Calendar
Teacher training colleges will open for Term 1 on 6th January 2025 and close on 4th April 2025. They will then proceed for a 3 weeks holiday from 7th April 2025 to 25th April 2025.
The second term opening date for colleges is 28th April 2025 and the closing date is 1st August 2025. College students will proceed for the 2nd term holiday from 4th August 2025 to 22nd August 2025.
Term 3 for colleges begins on 25th August 2025.
Other colleges and each university have their own opening schedule.
2025 School calendar highlight
- Schools will not have mid-break or half-term in term 3
- KCSE and KCPE exams will be in November
- There will be a break of 10 weeks to allow candidates to do their national exams.
