Press statement by the Young Leaders Movement on IEBC Registration of voters and recommendations.
About Young Leaders Movement
This is a movement that comprises of former and present student leaders of various Unions and Associations in our tertiary institutions. This are like minded individuals who intend to make
their rightful contribution to the Growth of Social- cultural state of our Nation.
This is what we would like to bring to the attention of the Nation and all relevant authorities.
1. We highly recommend that the IEBC should liase with Huduma Centers across the Country to pitch tent in our Various colleges and Universities before the elapse of the registration window. A large number of students are in possession of ID’s but have not registered as voters due to logistical challenges. The student block is one of the key voting block as most policies that most governments undertake affect them.
2. The government of the day should not ignore the immense contribution students have in developing the nation. This elite group is the same one that runs our social media and most Internet platforms. They even influence the political climate and thus should not be left in chatting the destiny for this nation.
3. As Young Leaders Movement who believe in ideologies that have provisions for the youthful populations and in this case students, we appeal to all eligible students to massively turn up to register and vote. NOT REGISTERING as a Voter is equivalent to ELECTING A BAD LEADER.
4. We as well encourage all students who have resumed studies to brave logistical challenges and go home or visit nearby Huduma Centre’s to register as voters.FAILING TO REGISTER TO VOTE, is planning to allow OUR COUNTRY BACK INTO CLASHES AND BAD POLITICAL ENVIRONMENT for socioeconomic development.
ALL STUDENTS IN INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER LEARNING SHOULD COME OUT MASSIVELY AND REGISTER AND BE PART AND PARCEL of defining the FUTURE of this Great Nation.
Signed
Young Leaders Movement.
