University students announce plans to join CORD anti IEBC protest, as Deputy Vice Chancellor calls for calmness

The CORD protests intended to send IEBC officials home have got a boost after university of Nairobi students indicated that they will join the opposition to root out Isaac Hassan Commission.

 

A statement that appeared on KTN News indicated that University of Nairobi students were planning to join CORD protest. This comes shortly after the University of Nairobi deputy vice chancellor Prof. Isaac Mbeche released a statement contrary to KTN headline. The statement read;

“It has come to the University’s attention that when police dispersed demonstrations from IEBC (Anniversary Towers), some of the demonstrators ran for safety into the University and disrupted examinations that were scheduled from 2.00 p.m. on May 9, 2016.

The University regrets the disruption caused by the incident.

In the meantime, students should remain calm as the University continues to do everything possible to ensure that the ongoing academic programs are not disrupted.”
