student in jailMeru University student organization Chairman Stanely Nderitu and Secretary general John Ngugi Miano appeared in court on Thursday afternoon after visiting the Tigania west DCIO. They were then arrested after they were found guilty of leading a student demonstration that led to the destruction of university property (read story Meru University of Science and Technology students protest).

The student leaders spent a cold night at Kangeta Prisons waiting to pay a 5 million bail to be released. Meru University Kenyayote campus team reporter George is at the ground and will be bringing more information.
