Ubaradhuli wa Ardhi Video by KTN’s Zubeidah Kananu Koome review: Historical Land Injustices in Kenya

ubaradhuli wa ardhi

Ubaradhuli wa Ardhi Video which aired live on May 24, 2015 on KTN Leo highlighted the historical land injustices in Kenya since precolonial period to date. The story was prepared by Zubeidah Kananu Koome.

Ubaradhuli wa Ardhi begins with a highlight of how the colonialists arrived in Kenya and acquired fertile land in the white highlands. It goes deep explaining the tactics the colonialists used to deal with those who rebelled the acquisition. This led to the death of great Kenya freedom fighters like Dedan Kimathi.

Zubeidah Kananu Koome shades light on the key people who played role in the fight for Kenya’s independence and how they gained after the colonists left Kenya.

Ubaradhuli wa Ardhi reveals on how state officers used their power and wealth to acquire large pieces of land in Kenya. At some point the video indicates that some state officers acquired the large parcels of land they posses procedurally. However, the clear message being sent at the end of watching Zubeidah’s story is that they, the state officers grabbed land.

I can say that Ubaradhuli wa Ardhi is a nice story because it looks at  historical land injustices in Kenya from two angles of argument. From those who are for the argument and those who are against the argument. Nice job Zubeidah Kananu Koome and Joe Ageyo.
