After teachers missed  their September pay  in  what TSC  terms us  disciplining teachers who were on strike,  they have now launched a hunger strike movement dubbed OccupyTSC.  The teachers have vowed to go for days without eating while camping  and praying outside the TSC headquarter in Nairobi until they are paid.

Peter Amunga who is one of the teachers that begun the OccupyTSC movement  on Mushajaa day spoke to Kenyayote “We don’t want teachers to continue committing suicide. We will be meeting outside our employer’s office for prayers every day until the day God will touch them so that they can pay us.” Peter Amunga has called on all teachers to join the OccupyTSC movement as all avenues of negotiation have terribly failed.

This comes after Mashujaa day went down without  any address of the teachers concerns by the ruling government and in particular president Uhuru Kenyatta.

On September 25th a court  order was issued which read “In the interests of the children in public schools and their rights under the Constitution, the court directs the unions to suspend for 90 days… no victimisation in any way or any adverse step be taken against the teachers for participating in the strike, which was declared protected and legal. You were directed thus to pay full salaries and allowances to the teacher ” TSC has since the defied the court order.
