The deadly Coronavirus has caused a major shut down of schools that has seen around 300 million students to stay at home worldwide. Italy is the latest in the list of countries that has ordered closure of schools.
The number of infected people in the world currently stands at 95000 and more that 3200 deaths have been reported. The epidemic is spreading at an alarming rate and it has been reported in 80 countries so far.
China is the most affected country in the word after the first case was reported in Wuhan city in November last year. This forced the country to put the entire city at a lock down stopping movements in and out of the province. Schools and factories were temporarily shut down indefinitely.
A report from UNESCO shows that the spread f the virus has forced 13 countries to shut down schools leaving 290 million students with no choice. Nine other countries have implemented localized closures.
On Wednesday 4th of March Italy suspended academic activities in schools and universities until March 15th as a measure to curb the menace. Italy has recorded 107 deaths which is the highest number of deaths outside China.
South Korea, another country with alarming number of infections close to 6000 reported cases. The Asian country has called off the beginning of its current school opening days to March 23rd.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, has followed suit by ordering schools to remain closed for the rest of March.
France on their part has closed 120 schools in areas that have reported largest number of infections in the country.
Infections outside china are on the rise compared to new infections inside the country. 31 more deaths and 139 new cases were reported Thursday. China ‘s death toll now stands at 3,012, with over 80,000 infections.
