Pope Francis Visit to Kenya: Letter to all Christians from Bishop: In April 2015, all the Catholic Bishops of Kenya travelled to Rome for our Ad Limina visit to the Holy Father where we invited him to visit our country and pray with us.
On behalf of the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops, I am glad to inform you dear Christians that the Holy Father Pope Francis will visit Kenya for three days from November 25-27 2015.
During his visit, The Pope will celebrate Mass for all Christians in Nairobi and hold a meeting with the Youth and young people in and of school still in Nairobi. In addition, the Holy Father will hold a meeting with all men and women religious from all over Kenya. The Pope will also visit and hold meeting with many other people.
By this letter, I urge all parish priests and leaders to make arrangements and join other Catholic Faithful from all over the country in welcoming the Holy Father. In particular I request the following;
1. Christians who would wish to attend the celebration of Holy Mass on November 26th in Nairobi to start registering at their parishes and outstation. Parishes are requested to make arrangements for transport and other logistics needed for the function in Nairobi.
2. All youth who would wish to join the Holy Father for his day with young people to register with their respective parish offices which are then requested to forward the names to the diocese. All institutions wishing to send young people to meet the Holy Father need to compile and send the list to the diocese by October 18, 2015.
3. The cost of organizing the visit of the Holy Father is quite high; thus I ask you our dear Christians and people of God, as I bring to you a special request from the Catholic Bishops in Kenya. We request all parishes to make a contribution and send it to the Bishops’ office by October 26th, 2015. Please give generously to ensure that the visit of the Holy Father is successful. In addition, the Bishops conference has established an MPESA paybill (Number 405060- Account Number 1) for Christians to contribute. Please also make your donations to the number.
In conclusion, I commend you to Our Blessed Virgin Mary and urge you dear Christians to pray for the visit of the Holy Father so that it may be a success. We will provide you with more information as we prepare to host the Holy Father.
Yours in Christ,
Rt. Rev. Philip Anyolo
Chairman,
