Nyeri County Jubilee party primaries, Wednesday 26th April 2017: The Jubilee party nominations went down in Nyeri County on Friday. The Most hotly contested seat in the Nyeri primaries was that of Governor position. The candidates to beat in this position were incumbent governor Hon. Githaiga Samuel Wamathai and Mutahi Kagwe.
Nyeri County is a voting stronghold of President Uhuru Kenyatta according to the 2013 presidential elections results where he received over 70% of the total votes against his closest competitor Raila Odinga.
