Final results of mathare by-election indicate that Stephen kariuki is the new mp of Mathare constituency. Stephen Kariuki of ODM managed to beat his competitor Wanjohi of TNA by 784 votes.

- Barack Obat Blasto (Independent)-19 votes
- Billian Okoth Ojiwa (National Labour Party)-15 votes
- Nixon Kavai Inziria (Independent)-11 votes
While addressing his supporters after being declared the winner of the hotly contested by election. Stephen Kariuku thanked his party leader and supporters for offering him an opportunity to serve as the Mathare MP.
