Education CS George Magoha has today (Monday 16th November 2020) announced (updated) the official re-opening of schools dates for primary and secondary schools. He also released the start dates for KCPE and KCSE 2021 examinations as highlighted below..
Opening of Primary and Secondary Schools

A brief statement issued by the ministry of education indicates that for primary schools, only Grade 4 and class 8 students will re-open on Monday 12th October 2020 and for secondary schools, only form four students will re-open on Monday 12th October 2020 for second term.
Grade 4, Class 8 and form four students will close on 23rd December 2020 (after 11 weeks). They will then proceed for an holiday of one week between (24th December 2020 to 1st January 2020) before opening for 3rd term on 4th January 2021 and end their third term on 19th March 2021 (after 11 weeks)
Re-opening for other classes
All other classes that had not re-opened by 12th October 2020 from pp1 to form 3 will re-open on 4th January 2021 for second term and close on 9th March 2021. They will then proceed for a 7 weeks holiday to allow KCPE and KCSE candidates do their national examinations.

KCSE and KCPE 2021 exam start dates
Current class eight students will sit for their KCPE examination starting on 22nd March 2021 and end on March 24, 2021, while 2020 form four students will start their national examinations on 25th March 2021 and end on 16th April 2021Â
Re-opening of Universities, Colleges, and TVET
In an update we published on 29th September 2020, the ministry of education had indicated that Universities, Colleges, and TVET would re-open starting from 5th October 2020. Most Universities have already re-opened for final year students. Some Universities like Kenyatta University, Moi University, JKUAT (Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology), etc. have also announced dates when students in other years (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.) will re-open.
