KCSE 2020/2021 results will be released today and candidates can send their index number to Safaricom or Airtel sms code to check and receive their results via text message as explained below.
Facts about KCSE 2020 exams
KCSE 2021 exams was supposed to be done in October 2020 but was postponed to March 2021. The exams started on 25th March 2021 and came to an end on 21st April 2021.
The results will be released on Monday 10th May 2021 by Minister of Education CS George Magoha
- 893 students scored A (plain)
- 143k students scored C+ and above
- 223 students with special needs scored C+ and above

How to check KCSE 2020 results via sms (for candidates)
Students can check their KCSE 2021 exam results by following the procedure below:
- Go to Messages in your mobile phone
- Type your index number followed by the word KCSE. Example; 12432545645 KCSE
- Send message to sms code 20076
- You will receive your KCSE results confirmation message
- SMS costs ksh. 25 across all networks (Safaricom and Airtel)
If you have not received your results or have a problem or a complaint, you can file it to KNEC after exams have been released.
NOTE: You will be able to receive the results only when they have been announced and made public by the education cabinet secretary.
How to confirm KCSE 2021 exams results online (for schools)
Secondary Schools can download KCSE 2021 results online through KNEC Portal (https://www.knec-portal.ac.ke/). However, results will be posted in the portal a day after they have been released. The online examination portal can only be accessed by schools. Therefore, the only option that students have in checking their results is through sms or contact their school head.
Schools can also pick their exam results from the sub-county education office a day after the release of exams.
You may notice an error if you try to access the KNEC portal during the exam release day, it is because of high traffic. You can try accessing the portal later.
What next after 2021 KCSE exam release
The next phase after KCSE exam release is placement. The process of placing students who have met the minimum cut off points to Universities under government sponsorship is done through KUCCPS portal. Learn more on how the placement process works.
