CS Ababu Namwamba says government will build golf courses in schools

Government to build golf courses in schools

Sports CS Ababu Namwamba has indicated that government will build golf courses in schools to open up the game to non-elite players. The CS was speaking during the handing over of the national flag to the Kenyan golfers who are set to participate in the Africa Region IV Golf Championship in Addis Ababa.

By building public golf courses in schools, Namwamba seeks to remove the perception that golf is a sport meant for the affluent or elite members of society. This move is also part of a broader strategy to democratize sports in Kenya and provide equal opportunities for individuals who may not have had access to such facilities before.

Namwamba believes that by introducing golf at the grassroots level, more young talent will be discovered, leading to an overall improvement in the country’s golfing standards.

The Africa Region IV Golf Championship

The Africa Region IV Golf Championship is scheduled to take place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from June 5th to June 11th, 2023. It brings together golfers from various countries in Africa, providing them an opportunity to compete and showcase their skills on an international stage.
