CS Matiangi Schools to close for two weeks ahead of elections

Cabinet Secretary – Ministry of Education Dr Fred  Matiang’i  has released a preliminary school calendar  ahead  of August 2017 election. Schools will break for two weeks.

School Calendar, 2017

 
While dressing various administrators of schools at KICD on Friday 19th May 2017  about the Educational preparedness for  August 2017 elections conference, CS Fred  Matiang’i indicated that the ministry suggests that school should close on  4th August 2017  to leave room for elections to be conducted. The CS insisted that the date is preliminary and will be subject to change. A communication will be issued incase of any changes.

Matiangi also asked school heads to take an inventory of the  properties that will be handed over to IEBC for conducting elections and ensure that IEBC officials hand them back in their good state once elections are over. IEBC will be forced to compensate for any school property destroyed during the election period.

 
Most Primary, Secondary schools,  and higher institutions of learning are expected to serve as centers of voting.
