Catholic University of Eastern Africa Chancellor, Berhaneyesus Souraphiel, appointed Cardinal by Pope Francis

The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) Chancellor, Rev Berhaneyesus Demerew Souraphiel, Archbishop of Addis Ababa; Ethiopia has been appointed Cardinal.
According to www.news.va, on Sunday 04 January 2015 at the Angelus, Pope Francis announced the names of fifteen Archbishops and Bishops whom he will raise to the dignity of the Cardinalate on February 14, 2015; among them is Rev Berhaneyesus Demerew Souraphiel, C.M., Archbishop of Addis Ababa; Ethiopia and AMECEA Chairman.
Rev. Berhaneyesus Souraphiel was appointed to the position of CUEA Chancellor on July 2014. He presided over the 30th Catholic University of eastern Africa Graduation ceremony on October 3, 2014.
