The 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams will begin today, with over 960,000 students across the country sitting for the exams. Unlike in previous years, where core subjects like Mathematics and English traditionally kicked off the exams, this year’s exams start with less common subjects such as French (Oral), German (Oral), Kenyan Sign Language, Music (Practical), and Arabic (Oral).
On Wednesday, candidates will sit for Home Science alongside the foreign language exams mentioned above, but this time with listening comprehension and writing.
The KCSE examinations will run through to Friday, November 12, 2024, concluding with the Physics practical. Business and Agriculture are scheduled for the second last day, meaning students taking these subjects will remain in school longer than their peers.
The Ministry of Education has assured education stakeholders that everything is ready for the start of the exams. There have also been no reported cases of exam leakages before the start.
