President William Ruto has launched a unified Paybill number, 222222 that will be used to receive payment for government entities such as NTSA, KRA, Business Registration Services, Certificate of Good Conduct (DCI), Civil Registration Services, and Directorate of Immigration Services, among others.

While launching the Paybill, the president indicated that the objective behind introducing the unified mpesa paybill number 222222 is to streamline payment process and combat corruption by making it possible to know how much each ministry or government entity receives through public payments.
The president says that after 90 days all government services would have migrated their payment system to paybll number 222 222.
Once payments are made to Paybill number 222 222, the collected funds will be distributed by the treasury to various ministries and government parastatals whose services were paid for.
The government plans to use the national identity card number for Kenyan citizens and the Alien Identity Card number for foreigners to track payments (and as the account number).
It was not made clear whether Airtel Money and Telkom (T-Kash) will be supported.
