Former Mount Elgon MP John Serut has died of cancer in Nairobi Hospital. The news of his death was confirmed by his family member.

John Serut served as a member of parliament for Mount Elgon constituency from 2003 to 2007 and 2013 to 2017.

The news of the death of John Serut was confirmed by his daughter Michelle Serut.

John Serut has been battling cancer for years and joins a list of prominent people that have succumbed to cancer.

In 2021, John Serut had called for fundraising to help raise his medical bills that had accrued up to 20 million.
