Kenyn students locked in Wuhan City over Coronavirus to receive Sh. 1.5 million from Government

Kenyan students living in Wuhan the Chinese City affected by the deadly Coronavirus will receive sh1.3 million from the Kenyan government for upkeep. Also, the Chinese government through the Kenyan Embassy will provide Sh500,000 worth of goods to be used by the trapped students.

Addressing the media on Thursday, Government Spokesman Oguna said the treasury has released the money to support the students.

This comes a few days after the students in the monster city showed their disparity through online videos crying to the government to come to their rescue as they are going through hell in the isolated Chinese City.

The government through State spokesman Cyrus Oguna says 100 Kenyans are currently living in the Chinese city. 91 of them are students while the remaining 9 are said to be acrobats.

In a move to curb the life-threatening situation in the city, the Chinese government has canceled all transport, including trains, flights and public means in and out of Wuhan.

The number of deaths reported as on Thursday is standing at 2118 after 114 new deaths were reported. So far, no case has been reported of any Kenya dying of Coronavirus.

The number of COVID-19 infected people currently stands at 74,500 with thousands of new cases of people testing positive for Coronavirus being reported daily.

The Government Spokesman has however maintained that the government of Kenya will not be evacuating students in China.

This follows a protest by Kenyans online and parents for the government to be responsible and have the students brought back to Kenya.
