- Sunday 30th September 2018: Jacque Maribe was arrested over the alleged involvement in the murder of business woman Monica Nyawira Kimani
- 9th Tuesday October 2018: Jacque Maribe and his husband Joseph Irungu were arraigned in Court following DPP’s directions that the two be charged with murder of Monica Kimani. High Court Judge Jessie Lessit deferred their plea taking to Monday 15th October 2018 to allow Maribe undergo mental assessment at Mathare Hospital. After Medical assessment, Maribe was detained at the Langata Women’s remand prison while his boyfriend Irungu was detained at Industrial Area remand prison till.
- 15th Monday October 2018: Jacque Maribe and Joseph Irungu alias Jowie were presented in court and pleaded not guilty to the murder of Monica Kimani. High Court Judge Jessy Lesiit ordered them to return to court on Wednesday, October 17 for the hearing of bail application.

- The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) received a report in respect to the death of Monicah Nyawira Kimani that occurred at Lamuria Gardens Apartment Kitale Lane off Dennis Pritt Road in Kilimani Area within Nairobi County on the night of 19th September 2018.
- I immediately constituted a team of Prosecutors to guide the DCI officers during investigations. On the 8th day of October 2018 the DCI forwarded a copy of the Police File.
- I have independently reviewed the evidence so far on record and am satisfied that there exists a prima facie case to warrant criminal prosecution against the following individuals, for the offence Murder contrary to section 203 as read with section 204 of the Penal Code: a) Joseph Kuria Irungu alias Jowie; b) Jacqueline Wanjiru Maribe.
- I have therefore directed that they be immediately arraigned before the High Court and charged accordingly.
