Jamii Telecommunications Limited (JTL) has waded into the mobile data segment with a big splash. The company, known as Faiba, traditionally offers fast internet connection via fiber optic cables.
Faiba is now offering mobile data under the name Faiba 4G Mobile. Faiba Mobile will offer data under the 700MHz frequency 4G network with the 0747 prefix.
The 700MHz frequency is superior than the 800MHz frequency on which rivals Safaricom, Airtel and Telkom offer their services.
Jamii Telecom is giving out free SIM cards as an introductory offer to woo new subscribers. So far Faiba 4G network is available in Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, Kisumu, Eldoret, and Thika.
