Sad reports reaching this desk confirm that the Governor of Nyeri County, Dr. Wahome Gakuru has succumbed to injuries sustained in a dawn accident.
The governor’s vehicle hit a guardrail after the driver lost control of it at Kabati near Kenol, along the Thika – Murang’a highway.
The governor was rushed to Thika Leve 5 hospital where he unfortunately succumbed to injuries sustained in the grisly accident.
The Governor’s driver and bodyguard are said to be in critical condition. It is not yet clear what made the driver lose control of the vehicle.
Governor Wahome is hailed as a visionary leader credit as one of the brains behind the Vision 2030 Project conceived during President Mwai Kibaki’s term.
Sad Kenyans could not help but draw conclusions that the Nyeri Gubernatorial seat is jinxed given the first Governor, Nderitu Gachagua, passed on while in office.
Gachagua ailed for a better part of his administration until he passed away on 24th February 2017, at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London.
