Removing Super Glue From Fingers skin: Super Glue is the commercial name for cyanoacrylate; a quick drying, strong glue known to stick together plastic, leather and even fingers. While Super Glue is a life saver in most instances, it can be your worst nightmare if it sticks to the wrong surface; like your fingers.
Luckily, there are several ways of removing Super Glue from anywhere it is not wanted.
These are;
- Peeling Off
At times you can get away with simply peeling off Super Glue from fingers. Peeling off works better if the finger(s) in question was oily or sweaty.
It is advisable to let the glue dry and form a solid crust first. Lift an edge gently and try to peel slowly. Stop immediately if you feel any pain.
- Warm Soapy Water
Should it be painful to peel the glue, soak the finger in warm, soapy water for about a minute or two. Use tweezers or a spatula to try and lift the edge of the dried glue.
- Lemon Juice and Water
Make a mixture equal amounts of lemon juice and water in a bowl. Dab the mixture on the offending glue and let it soak for a minute or two. Use tweezers or a spatula to lift the glue and peel it off.
- Acetone
Rub an acetone-based nail polish on the Super Glue. Use a sharp object to gently scrap away the super glue. You can also use an emery board to remove the softened glue.
If you have sensitive skin, you may consider skipping this step as acetone can be irritating or drying.
- Margarine or Olive Oil
This method is ideal if you have sensitive skin. Apply a little margarine or olive oil on the affected area and rub repeatedly. Do this until the Super Glue starts to peel.
- Petroleum Jelly
Wash the affected with warm, soapy water. Apply petroleum jelly on the affected area and rub gently with a emery stone or nail file until the glue starts to come off.
