Nigerian artistes disappointing in major gigs is becoming a norm. The much hyped The Wave concert that went down on Saturday night at Ngong Racecourse Waterfront lived up to that billing after Tekno Miles, the main act, failed to impress. Revellers who forked as much as Kshs 4,000 to attend the show felt cheated, and were not slow to express their disappointment.
Tekno’s performance was under par in many levels. For one, he kept fans waiting for hours on end, leaving it up to local artistes to keep revellers on their toes. Secondly, he was out of sync with his backup singers, delivering a performance akin to an ill-prepared village church choir. For this he laid blame on DJ Crème de la Crème. Thirdly, he performed for less than 30 minutes, an epic failure given that he was the star attraction and fans had paid dearly to see more of him and less of other artistes.
In his own defence, Crème de la Crème said, “…Tekno wasn’t in sync with his band, then dude blames me…no hard feelings tho (sic). Stay humble.”
Relatively unknown event organisers cum promoters Roya Ent and Hype Ent were also left with eggs on their faces given that this was their moment to make their mark on the cut-throat entertainment industry.
Other Nigerians who have disappointed Kenyans on a mega scale include Burna Boy, who after his under par performance went ahead to engage Kenyans on Twitter on a blocking spree. Davido’s performance also left much to be desired of the boastful West Africans. The only Nigerian artiste to give a performance worth talking about is Wiz Kid.

Local artistes who performed during the concert include Camp Mulla, Nameless, Tunji, Fena, Le Band and The Kansoul. The Kansoul’s performance stole the night as the trio of Mejja, Madtraxx and Kid Kora preceded Tekno Miles with an electrifying performance.
