New Webometrics University Rankings prove how unreliable and Inaccurate it is

Webometrics which has for a long time been thought to be the only reliable university ranking company has released its July 2017 rankings that present a different  view. In this article, you will get to understand why new Webometrics rankings  are nothing more than garbage.

How Unreliable and Inaccurate webometrics rankings are

July 2017 webometrics rankings are out and  University of Nairobi  is ranked 47 in Kenya while Moi University is on top (Full Rankings available below).

In previous Webometrics rankings released some few months ago, University of Nairobi was number 1 (one) in the rankings. So, what went wrong that it slipped to 47 within some few months?

Latest web analytical data shows that University of Nairobi website is the most visited among learning institutions in Kenya. In general, University of Nairobi is the 39th most visited website in Kenya and Moi University comes at 368th (Data source Alexa)

In terms of scholarly cited articles in the internet, our data indicates that University of Nairobi is the most cited. Then how can little known universities and colleges like Tangaza University College, Amani College, Kenya Coast National Polytechnic, Embu University College, Railway Training Institute Nairobi rank above University of Nairobi?

There is no reason at all that can justify the authenticity of webometics rankings.

Is webometrics credible? My Take

July 2017 webometrics university rankings were very inaccurate and unreliable in every possible way. The whole idea of ranking Universities and Colleges is to measure their performances and growth with respect to certain standards. Which measurements are these that webometics used to place Amani College above University of Nairobi? Nothing can be more  misleading than that.

PS: It is time reliable auditing firms like KPMG, Deloitte, PWC e.t.c take up this role of ranking universities.
