ODM nominated senator Elizabeth Ongoro has ditched Raila Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) after the party denied her a chance to contest for Ruaraka MP seat. Her defection comes shortly after ODM handed over 800 contestants certificates to vie as unopposed candidates.
Although it is not yet clear whether Elizabeth Ongoro will join Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee party, her defection serves a big blow to ODM and NASA coalition. Elizabeth Ongoro was a close associate of Raila Odinga and assistant secretary-general of the party.

Elizabeth Ongoro was blocked from contesting for Ruaraka Parliamentary Seat after the ODM disciplinary committee allegedly found her to have had a hand in the chaos that led to the death of her Rival’s supporters MP Tom Kajwang.

UPDATE: ODM disciplinary committee has fined Senator Ongoro ksh. 1 million. She has indicated that she will be contesting for the same using Musalia Mudavadi’s ANC party.
