Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) notice ahead of release of 2015 KCSE results.
The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) is receiving information that certain unscrupulous persons are still conning the public to give them money ostensibly to receive assistance in the 2015 KCSE examination related matters.
The fraudsters are posing as employees of KNEC while some are posing as employees of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology or/ the Teachers Service Commission.
Head teachers / Principals of secondary schools, supervisors and invigilators involved in the field administration of the 2015 KCSE examination are the major targets of these fraudsters who are asking for money that they would help them in the following:
- Secure better grades in the 2015 KCSE Examination;
- Have the 2015 KCSE examination results not cancelled due to examination irregularities;
- Have the supervisors and invigilators not prosecuted in court or interdicted and / or dismissed from the teaching service for having been involved in examination irregularities in the centres they supervised / invigilated.
These fraudsters are bold and are threatening their victims with dire consequences if the matter is reported.
A number of such incidents have been reported to KNEC and some of the telephone numbers being used include the following:
- +254 724 081972
- + 254 20 2400099
We wish to assure all stakeholders that KNEC does not operate in such clandestine manner and therefore the public needs to be wary of these fraudsters and report them to the nearest police station to enable their tracking and charging in court.
Finally, we wish to caution the public that KNEC does not demand payment for services through M-Pesa.
