The Commission for University Education (CUE) has started a countrywide crack down of universities that fall below the expected threshold. Kisii University has been the first to face the consequences of the crackdown. CUE has ordered 10 out of Kisii University’s 13 campuses to be closed within a period of 90 days. All students studying in the following Kisii university campuses are supposed to arrange on how they will relocate to other 3 remaining campuses within the stated days (Ogembo, Keroka, Eldoret, Kabarnet, Migori, Eldama Ravine, Kehancha, Kapenguria, Isebania and Nyamira).

A statement released by CUE CEO David Some which appeared on the Daily Nation reads“The commission is, therefore, considering auditing all the systems of Kisii University to ensure quality in the delivery of university education,”

Satellite campuses for other universities pardoned last year risk being closed by July 2016 if they will not have complied with stipulated requirements as agreed following intense consultations between the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Vice Chancellors of the affected Universities and Commission to extend the closer period that was slated in in 2015.
