French government gives each former Garissa University student ksh. 150K
The government of France through its ambassador to Kenya H.E Remi Marechoux on November 19, 2015 gave certificates and Scholarship awards to former Garissa University College students. This comes shortly after the Paris, France attacks which saw over 100 lives lost.
The French government had offered to support Garissa University students who were victims of terrorist attack that claimed over 140 lives. Each students was given Kshs. 50, 000/= for tuition fee and Kshs.100, 000/= for upkeep.
The cheque for their tuition fees was handed to Moi University Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Finance, Prof. David Tuigong, who promised the students of uninterrupted studies since their fees is now taken care of for the whole academic year.
Moi University promised to preach peace to ensure that students are not radicalized to join the terror groups.
Note: Not all former Garissa University students were awarded. It is a few select.
