IDPs in Uasin Gishu County given one week to vacate the camps

Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdi Hassan on Tuesday 20th announced that the internally displaced persons on camps have till the end of this week to vacate the camps or face unspecified consequences.

 

The commissioner was speaking on Tuesday 20th October at Mashujaa Day celebrations at 64 stadium, Eldoret. He said that the victims of post-election violence were compensated and for that reason they were given time to buy their new homes and leave.

 

His utterances comes barely two weeks after the deputy president William Ruto gave checks to the PEV victims.The money was given in cheques and the displaced persons were expected to be resettled before the onset of the El Nino rains. In attendance was the Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago amongst other distinguished guests from the county.
