Tension is high in Maseno University after almost the entire administration block was consumed by fire in the wake of 8th October 2015.
The fire which begun in the early morning of Thursday is believed to have been caused by aggrieved students missing in the upcoming graduation and more important students who were removed in the list of aspirants in the upcoming student elections (somu).
The students had earlier called for the reinstatement of aspirants who are said to have been blocked from vying a call which went unheard by the administration. This is among the many cases in Kenya where university admins have been accused of interfering with student elections.
Some of Maseno university offices that have been reported to be affected by the fire are dean of students office and finance offices.
