The courageous Technical University of Mombasa student Organization president Benmark Nganga who was ranked among the top 100 most influential students in Kenya has been suspended from campus until further notice. This comes after the student unrest which led to the closure of the University on Thursday, 26th June 2014. The suspension was arrived at after a Technical University senate meeting that was held on 27th June 2014.
This is what SONU chair Babu Owino and TUMSO chair Benmark Nganga had to say concerning the unrest.
Benmark Nganga
“All students should resume on Monday regardless of their year of study or department. We shall not allow anybody to treat the University like his or her village kiosk to close or open whenever he or she feels. Kenya has come of ages especially with the new dispensation. Nobody should intimidate us. We shall fight for our rights mercilessly. It shall not be business as usual”
Babu Owino
“The plan by the admin to suspend or expel any comrade after the demo which was successful and worth being joined by the Vc, is evil, immoral, barbaric, heinous and ill natured. We are warning the Vc to try such stupid moves and we shall deal with him circumfoniously.”
This is the reaction from some of Technical University of Mombasa students
Jeremy
“Its now or never, say no intimidation….”
Orori
‘Comrades, we wont relent on the fight against dark forces meant to silence, intimidate, hush and provoke intelligent comrades. Any cantankerous, barbaric, wicked, devilish and uncivilized person inconsistent with the comrades’ wish, will be dealt with indiscriminately, gooncally, methodically, mercilessly, brutally, and arrogantly. Let us remain united to make TUM a world class institution…tell a comrade to tell a comrade and a micro-comrade..’
