The Ministry of education cabinet secretary has asked schools to adhere to student school reporting, learning, and leaving hours guidelines as contained in the basic education act.
School Hours in Kenya
Monday to Friday school reporting hours for public and private institutions in Kenya are as follows
Day Schools
- Morning Reporting Hours: 8:00 am
- Class Hours: 8:00 am to 3:30 pm
- Co-curriculum activities: 3:30 pm to 4:45 pm
No day school is allowed to ask learners to report to school before 7:15 am
Boarding Schools
- Morning Reporting: 8:00 AM
- Class Hours: 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM
- Co-Curriculum activities: 3:30 pm to 4::45 pm
- Self-directed activities: 5:00 PM to 7:30 pm
- Evening Preps: 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm
- Sleeping Time: 9:30 pm to 6:00 am
- Supervised Routine Activities: 6:00 am to 8:00 am
Teachers should not send any boarding students away later than 9:00 am.
All boarding students should report to school by 5:00 pm during opening day
The biggest challenge that the ministry of education faces is how to ensure that the guidelines are followed.
