KRA has announced an online auction of vehicles and other products that have overstayed in the cargo of Mombasa port. The auction will start on August 14, 2023, and end on August 20, 2023.
To bid on KRA cars on auction online, follow the procedure below;
If you have won the bid, you will receive a message confirming the win.
KRA vehicles on auction are published in a Gazette notice before the bidding starts online. Some of the items available for auction include motor vehicles, electronics, furniture, bedding, foodstuffs, clothes, fabrics, beverages, etc. Currently, the most active bids are for used cars.
Online vehicle bidding works like any other type of physical auction. For example, if you place a bid of Kenya Shillings 500,000 on a vehicle and somebody else who is interested in the same vehicle places a bid of Ksh. 500,001, you need to increase your bid price to be the highest bidder.
The bid price will continue to increase until the close of the bid period. You can cancel your bid anytime.
Once the bid has closed and you are the winner of the bid, you will be required to make payment within 48 hours.
To participate in the auction, you must pay a non-refundable fee of ($10).
KRA says that it does not guarantee that the items on auction are in good condition. It also emphasizes that there are no taxes to be paid. The winning bid price is final, you will not incur any other taxes.
