KMTC launches Simulation Laboratory for training health workers

KMTC Simulation Laboratory launch

Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has today launched a Ksh. 14 million Simulation Laboratory that will help train health workers. The laboratory was launched by KMTC in partnership with Ministry of Health and Gradian Health Systems.

About KMTC Simulation Laboratory

The simulation laboratory includes a mock Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and operating theater in which routine and complex clinical cases will be performed under the guidance of the academic staff.

The Simulation Laboratory is fitted with a Comprehensive Care Ventilator (CCV), Universal Anesthesia Machine (UAM), mannequins, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) bed, patient monitors, oxygen cylinders and accessories, machines to simulate different types of breathing, airway kits, and other devices, accessories, and consumables that help simulate a real clinical environment.

The laboratory also has a classroom setup fitted with audio-visual to enable trainees observe simulation scenarios from any location

Importance of a simulation laboratory

The simulation laboratory helps bridge the gap between Laboratories skills and theory (coursework) for healthcare providers, students and technicians in health facilities.
