CS Ezekiel and Turkish Ambassador discuss enhanced cooperation in education sector

Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu and Turkish Ambassador to Kenya, Subutay Yuksel on May 25th, 2023 held a meeting to explore avenues for enhanced cooperation in the education sector. The meeting focused on strengthening existing partnerships and collaboration between the Ministry of Education in Kenya and the Turkish Government, aimed to support the ongoing education reforms in Kenya.

Accompanying Cabinet Secretary Machogu were Dr. Belio Kipsang, the Principal Secretary of Basic Education, and Dr. Esther Muoria, the Principal Secretary of Vocational Training. Together, they deliberated on strategies to bolster the Education Ministry’s initiatives and sought ways to support the ongoing education reforms in Kenya.

During the meeting, CS Machogu expressed his gratitude to the Turkish Government for their continuous support of education programs in Kenya. The CS commended Turkey’s provision of scholarships that have enabled Kenyan students to pursue higher education opportunities in tertiary and university institutions within Turkey.

The discussions revolved around fostering greater collaboration and identifying specific areas where the Turkish Government could lend its support and expertise to further strengthen Kenya’s education sector. The bilateral meeting emphasized the importance of international partnerships in advancing education and creating opportunities for students.
