Communication Authority of Kenya recently issued a statement where it indicated that all sim cards must be registered by 15th April 2022 or face a fine. Airtel, Safaricom, and Telkom network users with unregistered simcards will be affected. To register your Airtel Simcard details online, follow the steps below.
- Visit website: Airtel SIM Registration update portal
- Enter Airtel phone number
- Click validate and get OTP
- Your receive an SMS with verification Code
- Enter your ID number
- Scan and Upload your ID (back and front)
- Submit
The consequence of not updating your Airtel Simcard registration details is that you can be fined up to Ksh. 300,000 or face 6 months jail term. Your airtel line will also be disconnected or switched off if it is not registered then.
The Communication Authority which is currently headed by former Ezra Chiloba is trying to eliminate the high number of fake sim cards that exist in the market.
As earlier stated, the deadline for Simcard registration is 15th April 2022.
