Education CS Matiangi strategy to end commercialization of education
The Cabinet Sectary for education Matiangi has issued a warning to all private universities over their quality of education. While speaking on citizen in a morning show interview, Matiangi indicated that he had noticed that some universities in Kenya are offering degree courses to candidates who scored below a C+ which is a violation of the set standards.
The law states that any student wishing to do a degree course must have a C+ and above. The warning comes shortly after the ministry of education indicated that all students who scored a C+ will be admitted to private universities. This therefore implies that if all students who scored C+ above in the 2016 KCSE agree to join public Universities then private universities will be left with no option but only offer diploma courses. And if the trend persists, most private universities might be forced to shutdown marking the end of commercialization of education in Kenya.
