In order to become an Oncologist in Kenya, you need to have done Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch.B) and then do a masters degree in medical oncology, surgical oncology or radiation oncology.
Once you have passed the Bachelor’s degree, master’s degree should not be a problem.
The requirements of doing MBChB are;
Government Sponsored requirements
Your Cutoff points should be atleast 45.000 (which is an A plain) with a minimum of the following score per subject.
- Biology (B plain)
- Chemistry (B plain)
- Math or Physics (B plain)
- English or Kiswahili (B plain)
Private Sponsored Requirements
The requirements of doing MBChB as a private sponsored student in Kenya varies from one university to another but you should have at least a mean grade of C+ and a minimum of the following grades per the 4 required subject.
- Biology (B plain)
- Chemistry (B plain)
- Maths ir Physics (B plain)
- English or Kiswahili (B plain)

- Mount Kenya University
The MBChB course takes 6 years.
