The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced the opening of applications for the recruitment of 20,000 teacher interns. The 20k internship opportunities are available in 18,000 junior secondary schools and 2,000 primary schools in various counties.
The teacher internship program is meant for graduates who have never worked as interns before and lasts for only one year (12 months).
Internship Application Requirements
To apply for Junior secondary school internship, you must be registered with the TSC as a teacher and hold a minimum of a diploma in education. Additionally, you should have achieved a minimum grade of C+ in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and C+ in at least two teaching subjects.
On the other hand, to apply for primary school teacher internship, you must be a registered TSC teacher and hold a P1 certificate.

To apply for TSC internships, visit the TSC teachers online portal https://teachersonline.tsc.go.ke, click Recruitment of teachers July 2023, log in, and apply. TSC Teacher Interns payment
Interns attached to primary schools will receive a monthly stipend of Ksh. 15,000, while those attached to junior secondary schools will be paid Ksh. 20,000 per month. These payments are subject to statutory deductions. Basic statutory deductions in Kenya for salaried individuals include PAYE tax, NHIF, and NSSF.
Upon completion of the internship programme, interns will be issued with an internship certificate, acknowledging their successful completion of the programe and the experience gained during the internship period.
