KUCCPS has been added another task after the ministry of education announced that teacher training colleges (TTC) application and placement will be handled by KUCCPS.
KUCCPS placement of students to TTC
While speaking to TTC principals at Dairy Training Institute, Naivasha, ministry of education principal secretary (PS) for early learning and basic education Dr. Julius Jwan indicated that all students who want to apply for pre-service teacher training will have to do it through Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).
This means TTC students will now benefit from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) allocation and the ministry of education will not be responsible for handling applications as it used to be.
Students who do not want to be sponsored by the government will be allowed to apply directly to the institution of their choice.
Procedure of applying to TTC via KUCCPS
KCSE (Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education) graduates who want to join TTC to study for either diploma in primary teacher education (DPTE) course or early childhood development education (ECDE) course under government sponsored programme will be required apply through KUCCPS using these steps:
- KUCCPS will announce the dates for application and revision of courses in the newspaper and social media pages
- After the announcement, Students will login to the KUCCPS student portal and apply for available TTC courses
- KUCCPS will then process the application and release placement results
- Successful candidates will be issued with an admission letters by the TTC where they have been placed
