Delays in payment of KNEC Examiners

While addressing the press, KUPPET chair Omboko Milemba indicated that they have been patient enough with Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC). KUPPET is giving KNEC an ultimatum of 7 days to pay all teachers who marked KCSE and KCPE 2020 examinations. Failure to do so, KUPPET will call upon all teachers who marked 2020 KNEC examinations to protest to KNEC offices and demand their pay. However, Milemba said that protesting is a route that they do not want to take and therefore urged KNEC to pay teachers before they make such a move.

While appearing before the national assembly education parliamentary committee, KNEC said that reconciliation of the 2020 examiners has been completed and a section of the money has been disbursed to teachers. The remaining amount will be settled in portions.

Some teachers who spoke Kenyayote confirmed that they have received Ksh. 10,000 which is about a quarter of what they were supposed to be paid. They have threatened to boycott the marking of 2021 KCSE and KCPE exams if they are not fully paid.
